WHAT IS Strictly Bird Society



This foundation was found on 16 february 1985. Parrots are brought in by owners who cannot take care of them any more of their pets.
Most of the parrots who find a new place with us are brought by private persons, and others are placed by different departments of the government.



AIMS

We want to take in mainly hook-bill parrots. We just want to make it clear to people, to not buy a parrot without first informing themself about the consequences. All parrots are always welcome. In 'S.B.S.' birds which lived in a small cage for years, They now can get a large aviary and their own partner. Sometimes even baby-parrots are being born. We give a 100%guarantee that all birds stay in the safe environment and won't be sold, but will be adopted out to other Non-Profit Organizations, specializing in Physical Therapy. They will be able to use their capacities to help out the less fortunate.
Thanks to the support of the donors, sponsors and volunteers the Society becomes more beautiful. All show-n-tell fees are being used to take care of the parrots and to build more and larger aviaries.
S.B.S. has existed for about 12 years now and we have taken about a thousand parrots in.

VETERINARY ASSISTANCE


The veterinary assistance in S.B.S. is being done by a regular visits by a vet. Every week he confers with the management and they handle and solve problems.
Every parrot which is brought in will be examined thoroughly. Birds which are ill, get a separate place in the sick-bay. By mid 1998 a certified veterinary surgeon will get a private place in the S.B.S.


HISTORY

1985 When we founded S.B.S. on January 01, 1985 we already had the idea to create a giant reception center for parrots. The space available in Colorado U.S.A. was nice to begin with but soon became too small in order to place all birds comfortably. They needed space, air, a real rain shower and so on.

1987
For about 2 years the management tried to get another place, whith the whole infrastructure is as we would want it. The management wants to create a reception center for the many parrots who are ill or stressed and cannot be taken care of by their owners. The center will hold aviaries, cages, education room, quarantaine and sick-bay. Not only the reception of and the looking after the parrots will be done but also other activities are planned in the Society.
A very important aim is to learn the people to think twice before buying a parrot, and to try to avoid situations that birds can maim themselves, because of loneliness or stress.

1989 For all our plans we received full cooperation of Dept of Agriculture and the the U.S.Cutoms, plus the Dept of Wildlife of the Pueblo Community. A deposition "No objection" arrived on 11 december 1991.

OTHER AMUSEMENTS

Other than watching the animals in Show-N-Tell Programs. Children can play with the birds.
We do not sell parrots but if you want a souvenir you can buy Pictures of a few birds on you.

WHERE CAN YOU FIND Strictly Bird Society.

There headquarters are in Pueblo, Colorado central of the United States. They do not have a place to show our animals since most are adopted out to other organizations or are in a quarintene state. But we do have Show-N-Tell Programs all we ask is that you pay for the expenses of transportation, motel/hotel, food, etc. for the time spent at your organization. Show-N-tell for Pueblo $ 25 a show. Out of Pueblo cost's vary for time and travel. you are also donor. All Show-N-Tell fees are in favor of the animals.
